This past year has been a great one for me of deep learning and personal understanding about my inner world, nature, and personal achievement. It has been a hard year of personal loss, and the lesson of perseverance.
Personal challenge and living one’s life with inner strength and achievement is not simple. Cutting away at unnecessary foolishness is a first step toward moving forward and clearing a path to one’s goals. The path one chooses to walk is always going to be filled with hardship and disappointment; that is just the nature of the world. At the same time, it is filled with many beautiful and wonderful things.
I selected my path not because it was going to be easy or cool. (Well, maybe a little bit because is was cool.) I chose it primarily because it presented a challenge to my personal goals. This path challenges the way I look at the world; it challenges what is in my heart. One of the biggest lessons I have learned over the years has been my right to achieve and have a place in the world, to have a voice, to live my life to its fullest, and at the same time my responsible to avoid hurting others in the process.
There are many inner enemies of personal clarity and achievement. One is a lack of personal clarity about one’s relationship with the world. This can leave one stranded and affected by the whims of the world. Through my training and teaching martial arts, I have learned to cut away at this enemy of personal clarity. Through good, hard training, living a simply life, and clearing it of personal foolishness, one can start that path of clearing away our inner enemies and achieving our dreams and helping the world in the process.
I would like to thank all my students from around the world for this past year of great lessons. I would like to thank all of my personal friends and my family for all their love and understanding. I would like to thank my teachers’ teacher, Dr. Hatsumi, for letting us see a peak into this deep and wonderful martial art, Ninjutsu. Also I would like to thank my personal teachers and guides for all these years, Mr. and Ms. Hayes; without their help, the path would not be visible to me.
This coming year will be a great year of growth. Please join us on the path of personal accountability, of finding your inner light and strength through martial arts.
