Someone asked the other day “What keeps one going when studying martial arts?” I said, “There are many things”. One of them is I like to explore the interworkings of the human condition. With in self-defense, you first have to start with your self and then seek to understand the relationship with the outer world. This cannot be trained by a teacher the student has to find it with in them self’s to explore. The teacher can only provide a safe training environment and point to the path the student has to walk and seek their wisdom. The Boston Martial Arts Center was founded to study and understand martial arts for self-defense and to try and grasp the deep and full meaning of what it is to be a complete human. This was accomplished by studying the old martial arts styles and applying them to real world problems that we encounter every day. This process has helped me understand that martial arts is more than just kicking, punching and grabbing. For me, studying martial arts is about facing real day-to-day life problems. Join us on the path!
